What works on each platform
Based on what we've seen perform — both ours and the broader niche.
Instagram bio link
Highest-leverage placement. Use Linktree / Beacons if you have multiple links — your FairSplit link goes first. If you have a single bio link, the link itself shouldn't change daily; mention it in captions instead.
Reels (60-90 sec)
A 60-90 sec talking-head Reel about a specific moment ("I lost it last Tuesday over a missing sock") + caption mention of the quiz outperforms a generic "go take this quiz" Reel. Watch time and saves matter most — Mosseri said it himself in 2025. Not "comment for the link" — open-ended question CTAs only.
Long-tail SEO play — pins surface for 6+ months. Use a 1000×1500 portrait image (5 are above), a keyword-loaded description, and your link as the destination. Niche keywords that work: mental load, default parent, fair play, invisible labor, weaponized incompetence.
Stories
Highest CTR of any placement (5-10× a feed post) but disappears in 24h. Best move: a 3-frame story → frame 1 hook ("ok so we took this quiz"), frame 2 reaction or stat, frame 3 link sticker. Repeat ~weekly.
Threads / X / BlueSky
Short, observational, link at the end. Quote-tweet your own viral observations onto a quiz-with-link. Don't open with the link — earn the click with one good line first.
Newsletter / Substack
Highest-converting channel of all. Newsletter readers convert 3-5× a social click. Disclose the affiliate relationship — your audience trusts you because you're transparent. Sample disclosure language is in the newsletter blurb above.
What viewers see when they click your link
So you know exactly what you're sending people to. Take it yourself — test the path your audience takes.
- 1 Land on homepage — hero "Who Really Runs Your Household?" with a "Take the Free Quiz" button.
- 2 Take the quiz — ~50 yes/no/sometimes questions across 4 categories. Free. Email captured at the end.
- 3 See free results — overall score + summary. "Your partner can take it too" — share link copies to clipboard.
- 4 Partner takes it — comparison view unlocks once both partners' answers are in.
- 5 Detailed report ($9.99) — category breakdown, asymmetry analysis, conversation prompts, recommended Fair Play–style task delegation. $4.99 to you per unlock.
- 6 (Optional) Tracker Pro ($4.99/mo) — live task tracker for ongoing rebalancing. $2.49/month to you for the first 12 months per active subscriber. One converted couple who unlocks the report AND subscribes for the full 12 months = up to $34.87 to you.
Recommended: take it with your own partner before sharing. Your audience can tell when you've actually used the thing.
Best practices
Things we've seen work — and things we've seen kill conversions.
DO — share a specific moment: "we kept fighting about the same thing → took the quiz → it named exactly what we were fighting about." Specific stories outperform abstract endorsements 5×.
DO — pitch it as a tool, not a sale. "the quiz did the explaining for me" is more shareable than "buy this report."
DO — disclose. Add "this is an affiliate link" or "I get a small share if you upgrade" to your post. Audiences trust you more for it. FTC requires it in the US anyway.
DO — re-share once a month, not once a year. The quiz is evergreen; one mention dies in 24 hours.
DON'T — write generic "go take this quiz!" with no story. Lowest-converting format. Tell us what surprised you.
DON'T — promise specific earnings or outcomes ("the quiz will save your marriage"). Stay observational, like our brand voice.
DON'T — bash the partner. Audiences won't share content that humiliates men. Editorial > scolding. Bea Happier Parent's "confession" frame works better than a "men suck" frame.
DON'T — buy followers / use bots / spam comments to push the link. We monitor traffic quality. Inflated traffic with no conversions = paused affiliate code.
FAQ
When do I get paid?
Monthly, on the 5th, for the prior month's conversions. Minimum payout threshold $20 — if your balance is under, it rolls forward to the next month. Payout method (Wise / PayPal / Venmo / Stripe) is whatever you picked at signup.
How does attribution work?
When someone clicks your link, the ?ref=YOURCODE param is stored in their browser (localStorage, persists 30+ days until they clear it or convert). When they later complete the quiz and unlock the $9.99 detailed report, that purchase is attributed to your code automatically — even if they came back days later.
Do I need to disclose this is an affiliate link?
Yes — both because the FTC requires it in the US (and similar rules apply in UK/EU/AUS), and because audiences trust transparent creators more, not less. A simple line works: "this is an affiliate link — I get a small share if you upgrade. the free quiz is unchanged either way."
What if my audience isn't married / partnered with kids?
The quiz works for any couple sharing a household — married, dating, kids or no kids, hetero / queer / blended / poly. The "default parent" framing is parenting-coded but the underlying load math applies anywhere two people share daily logistics.
Can I edit your captions?
Please do. Sound like yourself, not like a brand. The captions above are starting points — your version, in your voice, will outperform anything we wrote.
What if my audience tries the link but no one buys?
No penalty. We don't pause / churn affiliates for low conversion — only for inflated traffic with zero engagement (which suggests bots). Even non-converting traffic is useful — we get audience signal.
Can I share my link on multiple platforms?
Yes — IG, TikTok, Pinterest, Substack, your blog, your podcast, DMs, anywhere. Same link works everywhere. Add UTM params if you want to track which platform converts (e.g. ?ref=AMANDA&utm_source=pinterest). We'll surface it in your stats.
Can I use my own discount code for my audience?
Not yet — the program is link-attribution only, no discount layer. We may add per-creator discount codes once we have 10+ active affiliates. Email support@thefairsplitapp.online if your audience would respond strongly to that.
What does the detailed report actually contain?
Category breakdown across the 4 mental-load axes (anticipation, monitoring, planning, execution), per-task asymmetry analysis showing which specific tasks have the biggest gap, conversation prompts for each gap, and Fair Play–inspired task ownership recommendations. ~6 pages, designed to read in 10 minutes together.
Will I know who from my audience converted?
No — privacy. You'll see the count and earnings (e.g. "3 conversions, $14.97 owed") but not individual emails or names. We don't share buyer identities with affiliates.
What about the Tracker Pro subscription? Do I earn on that?
Yes. You earn $2.49/month (50% of $4.99) per active Tracker Pro subscriber from your referral link, capped at the first 12 months per subscriber. After month 12 of any individual sub, that one stops paying out (FairSplit keeps 100% from then). New subs from your audience reset the clock — there's no annual cap on the program, only a 12-month cap per individual sub.
How do I opt out?
Email support@thefairsplitapp.online. We'll deactivate your link within 24 hours and pay any earned-but-unpaid balance on the next cycle.
